La Casita Azul

La Casita Azul is a new curatorial programme and an exhibition space devoted to architecture inside CentroCentro Cibeles cultural centre in Madrid. Due to the huge dimension of the interior lobby of this former State Post Office building by 1920’s Decó architect Antonio Palacios, La Casita Azul takes shape in the form of a self-contained small pavilion: a space within a space. This pavilion is laid out as a possible prototype for exhibiting architecture, with long surfaces for hanging images or drawings and with a dark room containing models and projections. Along with the architecture, the commission includes the direction of the curatorial programme, which focuses upon recent or under construction international works by Spanish offices, making a point in the current necessity for broadening horizons in architectural practices.
